The Book Club

The OPERA Book Club meets the last Monday of the month from September through November, and January through May, in the club room (118) at the Confederation Education Centre, 1645 Woodroffe Avenue, Nepean, beginning at 1:00 pm. A luncheon meeting takes place in mid-June to to top off the year and decide on book selections for the following year. As has been the case in previous years, we have a wide variety of books scheduled for 2011-12, books that are informative, intriguing, sometimes touching, sometimes funny, and generally very entertaining.

We get together in the OPERA Club Room. Between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. is a social time for lunch, coffee, or snacks, whichever you wish to bring, and free time to chat about books you are reading or other topics of interest. The actual book presentation and discussion begins at 1:30 p.m. This arrangement was made to make it easier to find parking spots behind the school when there are workshops being held. Members come according to the time that suits their schedule.

Our book discussions tend to be helpful and informative thanks to a terrific group of people prepared to share so many interesting points of view. New members are always welcome.

Weekly Bowling

This is a fun group - open to all regardless of ability (or lack thereof) that meets Mondays at 1:00 pm at the Merivale Lanes, 1916 Merivale Road, south of Hunt Club Road. The fall season starts on Monday, September 12.

Novice and experienced bowlers are welcome. If you haven’t bowled before, this is a great opportunity to learn. Shoe rental is available. The group usually plans a lunch together once a month and a year-end get-together.

Quilting

Weekly on Tuesdays at 9:00 am in the Club Room (118) at the Confederation Education Centre, 1645 Woodroffe Avenue, Nepean. The fall 2011 season begins on Tuesday, September 13 at 9:00 am.

Come and join a talented and enthusiastic group of quilters. This group includes beginners to experienced quilters.  Both individual and club projects are created, including small and large pieces.  You may choose what you wish to do and there are some great quilters there to help you with your creations. 

New members are always very welcome!
